Exceptional Family Member Program
 

What is EFMP?

The Exceptional Family Member Program is a mandatory enrollment program for all Active Duty Service Members who have an authorized dependent that requires special medical and/or educational services based upon a diagnosed physical, intellectual or emotional need.

Objective of the EFMP - To manage the dual demands of having a MarineCorps career and the needs of the family.

Mission of the EFMP - The mission of the EFM Program is to improve the readiness by assisting Marines in building a successful career while ensuring a continuum of care for their families.

  • Assignment Screening
    • Ensure all identified special needs can be met at duty station
  • Family support
    • Family case workers to assist with issues ranging from enrolment, respite care, housing, TRICARE/ECHO, locating special area resources, school/IEP support, advocacy and education

Your installation EFMP  exists not only to assist families with enrolling/re-enrolling in the EFMP but also can serve not only as an advocate on behalf of EFMP families but also as a vital link between exceptional families and Federal, State and local resources.

  • Federal, State Laws, DoD Instructions, Marine Corps Orders, Publications and Directives and base regulations affecting individuals with disabilities
  • Early Interventions Services (EIS) and Education & Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS)
